Essence of the position:

The Account Manager is responsible for establishing, maintaining and intensifying customer relations/ contacts with (potential) customers such as contractors, project developers and (potential) investors within the market area on Bonaire.

He/she does this through intensive personal approach and advising customers with the aim of achieving the sales targets as described in the budget. The Account Manager ensures that Kooyman is “top of mind” with this specific target group when it comes to purchasing building materials and hardware, both from stock and special order.


Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Informing and advising (potential) customers about materials, technical possibilities, price, other service- and payment options;
  • Building and maintaining personal contacts by paying regular visits to potential customers and construction projects;
  • Identifying and keeping track of all relevant developments on the market regarding any potential new and bigger projects and, based on that, extremely pro-actively acquiring and approaching (potential) customers;
  • Ensuring follow-up of issued and pending quotations to secure orders;
  • Bears final responsibility for the entire process of special orders for regular items, from sales, purchasing to delivery.

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications & experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a commercial and/or construction field with commercial vocational education and/or training;
  • Demonstrated affinity with building materials and/or hardware retail industry;
  • Minimum of five years of work experience in similar position;
  • Strong negotiation and sales skills and a hands-on mentality;
  • Independent, result-oriented individual;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills;
  • Good command of English, Dutch and Papiamento in word and writing. Spanish is an advantage;
  • Knowledge of MS Office, Auto Cad and CRM.
